To measure correctly, you will need:

  • A steel measuring tape.
  • A pencil for marking and recording measurements.
  • A worksheet to note your results.
  • A ladder if measuring tall windows.

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Always keep width and height measurements separate to avoid confusion, as mixing them up can lead to blinds that do not fit.
  • If you are measuring more than one window, check each one individually instead of assuming they are all the same. Small differences can have a big effect on the fit.

Outside Recess:

Measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we recommend that the blind overlaps the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side. The overlap at the bottom depends on your preference, but remember to allow for obstacles such as radiators. Always use a steel measuring tape because fabric tapes can stretch and give inaccurate readings.

Inside Recess:

If you want the blind to fit neatly inside the recess, measure the exact width and height of the space. We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a proper fit, so do not make any deductions yourself. Take measurements in three places for both width and drop, and always use the smallest measurement. Again, use a steel measuring tape for accuracy.

When fitting, make sure you have the following items that come with your blind:

  • Top-fix brackets ×2
  • Face-fix brackets ×2
  • Hangers ×1
  • Allen key ×1
  • Stabilising chain ×2
  • Safety hook ×1
  • Wood screws ×4
  • Weights ×1
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Steel tape measure

Face Fix Fitting:

Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the extras evenly along the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings are suitable for the surface. To attach, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the front screw.

Top Fix Fitting:

When fixing inside a recess, check for obstructions such as handles and mark the position carefully. Place the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail so the blind clears window handles. Any additional brackets should be spaced evenly across the blind. Ensure all fixings are secure for the surface. Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks into place. To remove, push the bracket release point.
