Tools You Will Need

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and writing measurements
  • A sheet of paper to record your figures
  • A ladder (if the window is high)

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Do not confuse height and width when writing them down, as this may result in blinds that do not fit.
  • If you are measuring more than one window, measure each one separately. Even small differences can affect the fit.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric ones may stretch and give incorrect readings.

Outside Recess

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light coming in, allow the blind to overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The overlap at the bottom is your choice, but check for obstructions such as radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape for accuracy.

Inside Recess

  • Measure the full width and drop of the recess. We will make the necessary adjustments so the blind fits perfectly.
  • Take three measurements for both width and drop, and record the smallest figures.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself – this will be done to ensure a proper fit.
  • Again, use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.

When fitting your vertical blind, please ensure you have the following parts supplied:

  • Two top fix brackets
  • Two face fix brackets
  • One set of hangers
  • One allen key
  • Two lengths of stabilising chain
  • One safety hook
  • Four wood screws
  • One weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from the ends of where the headrail will sit. If you have more than two brackets, space them evenly across the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings are secure for the wall or surface you are attaching them to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into place. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure it.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Mark out where the brackets will go, allowing for any handles or obstacles inside the recess.
  • Fit the brackets about 10cm from each end of where the headrail will be placed. This ensures enough space for window handles to clear.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, space them evenly across the blind.
  • Attach the fixings securely to the mounting surface.
  • Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks into position. To remove it, press the release point on the bracket
