Tools you will need to measure vertical blinds:
Helpful tips for accurate measurements:
Measure the full size of the space you want the blind to cover. To reduce light coming in around the edges, we suggest overlapping the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm at each side.
The overlap at the bottom is up to you, though you should check for obstacles such as radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch or bend, giving inaccurate readings.
Choose this measurement if you want the blind to sit inside the window recess. Measure the complete width and height of the recess (the opening itself). We will make the necessary adjustments to guarantee a neat fit.
Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, and use the smallest measurements. Do not make deductions yourself, as we will do this to ensure the blind is fitted correctly. As before, use a metal tape for accuracy.
Please check that you have all the parts supplied with your vertical blind.
Additional equipment required:
Fit the brackets about 5cm from each end of the position where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra ones evenly across the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings used are suitable for the wall or surface.
To attach, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it sits firmly in place. Secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.
Before fitting, measure and mark the area carefully to allow space for handles or other parts that extend into the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm from the ends where the headrail will be positioned, as this allows clearance for window handles. If more than two brackets are provided, fix the others evenly across the blind’s length. Again, check that your fixings are suitable for the chosen surface.
To install, tilt the headrail into the bracket and rotate it until it clicks into place. To release, push the bracket at the marked point.
