Tools you will need:

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and noting down your measurements
  • A worksheet to record each measurement
  • A ladder if the window is tall

Helpful tips for accurate measuring:

  • Always keep height and width measurements separate, as mixing them up can cause blinds not to fit correctly.
  • Measure each window individually, even if they look the same. Small variations can affect the final fit.

Outside recess fitting:

  • Measure the exact size of the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we suggest that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The amount of overlap at the bottom is up to you, but keep in mind obstacles such as radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones may bend or stretch and give you the wrong size.

Inside recess fitting:

  • Measure the full width and height of the recess if you want the blind to fit inside. We will make the required deductions for a perfect fit.
  • Take three measurements across the width and drop, then use the smallest figures.
  • Do not make your own deductions; we will do this for you.
  • Use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.

Your vertical blind will come with the following:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chain x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Weights x1
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face fix fitting:

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from the ends where the headrail will go. If you have more than two brackets, place the extra ones evenly across the blind. Make sure the fixings are right for the surface you are attaching to.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into place. Tighten the small screw on the front of the bracket to secure it.

Top fix fitting:

  • Measure and mark the fitting area, keeping in mind any obstructions such as window handles. Brackets should usually be placed about 10cm from the ends of the headrail position to clear the handles. If more than two brackets are included, space them out evenly across the blind.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, push the bracket release point.
