To place an order, measure your inside recess carefully (see instructions below) to the nearest millimetre. When you complete your purchase, add the exact sizes into the ‘special comments’ box at checkout. We will adjust by 1cm, which is the industry standard, to make sure the blinds fit properly.

Measuring Tools You Will Need

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking measurements
  • A worksheet for recording results
  • A ladder, if you are measuring tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Never mix up width and height when writing them down, as this could result in an ill-fitting blind.
  • If measuring more than one window, do not assume they are identical. Measure each one separately, as even small differences will affect the fit.

Measuring Outside Recess

  • Measure the exact size of the area you want the blind to overlap. To reduce light leakage, it is recommended that the blind overlaps by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The amount of overlap at the bottom depends on personal preference, but remember to check for obstacles such as radiators.
  • Always use a steel tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and cause inaccurate readings.

Measuring Inside Recess

  • Take the full width and height of the recess where you want the blind to fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurements.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will do this to ensure the blind fits perfectly.
  • Again, use a steel tape measure for accuracy.

When fitting your vertical blind, ensure you have the following items supplied:

  • Top fix brackets (x2)
  • Face fix brackets (x2)
  • Hangers (x1)
  • Allan key (x1)
  • Stabilising chains (x2)
  • Safety hook (x1)
  • Wood screws (x4)
  • Weights (x1)
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with appropriate bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Steel tape measure

Face Fix Installation

Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail location. If more than two brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Always make sure the fixings are secure and suitable for the surface.

To install, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to hold the headrail securely.

Top Fix Installation

Mark the required distance, allowing space for any window handles or obstacles inside the recess. Brackets should be placed about 10cm from each end of where the headrail will be fitted. If more brackets are supplied, position them evenly.

Attach the headrail by tilting and hooking it into the bracket, then rotating it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, simply press the bracket release point.
