Tools Needed for Measuring Vertical Blinds

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil to note your measurements
  • Worksheet to record figures
  • Ladder (for tall windows if required)

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

  • Always write down the width and height correctly; swapping them can result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are the same size. Measure each individually. Small differences can affect the fit significantly.

Outside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we suggest the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is up to you, but check for obstacles like radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes can stretch and bend, which may give inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement:

  • Use this measurement if you want the blind to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess, and we will adjust it to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will handle this to ensure the blind fits correctly.
  • Always use a metal tape measure for accurate results.

Items Included with Your Vertical Blind:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chain x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Weight x1

Additional Tools You Will Need:

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with suitable bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix:

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If there are more than two brackets, space the additional ones evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into position. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix:

  • Measure and mark the area, allowing for any obstacles such as window handles.
  • Position the brackets roughly 10cm from the ends of the headrail. For more than two brackets, space the rest evenly. Make sure the fixings suit the wall or surface.
  • Tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket, and rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove it, press the bracket at the designated point.
