Tools You Will Need for Measuring Vertical Blinds:

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil to mark measurements
  • A worksheet to record sizes
  • A ladder, if the window is high

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Make sure not to confuse height and width, as swapping them may cause the blind not to fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are all the same. Measure each individually, as even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement:

Measure the area where you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, we suggest the blind overlaps the top of the recess by at least 70mm and the sides by 50mm. The bottom overlap is up to you, but check for obstacles like radiators. Always use a metal tape measure because fabric tapes can stretch and give incorrect results.

Inside Recess Measurement:

If you want the blind to sit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will make the correct deductions to ensure a perfect fit. Measure the width and drop in three places and use the smallest numbers. Do not make any deductions yourself. Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.

Items Included with Your Blind:

  • Top fix brackets ×2
  • Face fix brackets ×2
  • Hangers ×1
  • Allen key ×1
  • Stabilising chain ×2
  • Safety hook ×1
  • Wood screws ×4
  • Weight ×1

Additional Tools You May Need:

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with suitable bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation:

Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are included, space the extra ones evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface. Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation:

Mark the position of the brackets, taking account of obstacles like window handles. Place the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail so the blind clears the handles. Fit any additional brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings suit the wall or surface. Hook the headrail into the brackets and rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
