Tools You Will Need to Measure Your Windows

  • A metal measuring tape
  • Pencil to mark measurements
  • Worksheet or paper to record measurements
  • Ladder, if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Be careful not to mix up height and width. Swapping them can result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are all the same. Measure each window individually and record each measurement, as even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce gaps for light, we recommend overlapping the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but check for obstacles such as radiators before deciding.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as fabric tapes can stretch and give inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement

  • Use this method if you want the blind to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess, which is the full size of the opening. We will make the necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places across both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement for accuracy.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will adjust the size to fit perfectly.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric tapes can stretch and cause errors.

Additional Tools You Will Need

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will be positioned. If more than two brackets are included, space the extra brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure that the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the brackets and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of each bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the positions carefully, allowing space for obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from the ends of the headrail to avoid interference with handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the remaining brackets evenly across the blind’s length. Ensure that the fixings are suitable for your wall or ceiling.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, then rotate it until it clicks into position. To remove the headrail, push the bracket at the designated point.
