Tools Needed to Measure Your Blinds

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and writing down measurements
  • Worksheet or notebook to record your measurements
  • Ladder for tall windows if required

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Do not confuse height and width when recording measurements. Swapping them may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, measure each window separately. Small differences between windows can significantly affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement

  • Measure the exact area where you want the blind to extend. To reduce light gaps, we recommend the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • Bottom overlap is optional, but consider obstacles such as radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as fabric tapes may stretch or bend, giving inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement

  • Measure the full width and height of the window recess if you want the blind to fit inside the frame. The manufacturer will make the necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.
  • Take measurements in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest numbers.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; these will be made to ensure the blind fits correctly.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as fabric ones can stretch and provide inaccurate readings.

Before starting, make sure you have all the parts supplied with your blind.

Additional Equipment You Will Need:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chains x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Blind weight x1
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with suitable bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets approximately 5cm from each end of the headrail. If additional brackets are supplied, space them evenly across the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and secure it by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the positions of the brackets, allowing for obstacles such as window handles. Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail to clear any handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space them evenly across the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or ceiling.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place until it clicks. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
