Tools You Will Need to Measure Vertical Blinds:

  • Steel tape measure
  • Pencil to mark and note your measurements
  • Worksheet to record your results
  • Ladder if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measurements:

  • Do not confuse height and width measurements, as swapping them may result in a blind that does not fit properly.
  • If you are measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are all the same. Measure each window individually, as even slight differences can affect the fit of your blinds.

Outside Recess Measurement

Measure the exact area where you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we recommend the blind overlaps the top of the recess by at least 70mm and each side by 50mm. The bottom overlap is up to you, but consider obstacles like radiators. Use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and give inaccurate readings.

Inside Recess Measurement

For an inside recess fit, measure the full width and height of the window recess (essentially the window opening). We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit. Measure width and height in three different places and use the smallest measurement for accuracy. Do not make any deductions yourself; we will handle them to guarantee the correct fit. A metal tape measure is recommended for precision.

Before starting, make sure you have all components that come with your vertical blind. You will also need:

Face Fixing Instructions

Place the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra ones evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface. Hook the back of the headrail into the brackets and rotate it into position. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fixing Instructions

Measure and mark the positions, leaving space for window handles or other obstacles in the recess. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end, spacing any additional brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings are appropriate for your wall or surface. Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks. To release the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
