Tools You Will Need to Measure Your Windows

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and noting measurements
  • A worksheet or paper to record your findings
  • A ladder, if you have tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Do not confuse the height and width when noting measurements, as swapping them may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If you are measuring more than one window, do not assume they are all the same size. Measure each window individually, as even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement

  • Measure the area where you want the blind to overlap. To reduce gaps for light, it is recommended that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but consider obstacles such as radiators before deciding.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric tapes may stretch or bend, giving inaccurate measurements.

Inside Recess Measurement

  • Use this method if you want the blind to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess (the full size of the opening). We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, and use the smallest measurement for accuracy.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will adjust the size to ensure the blind fits perfectly.
  • Use a metal tape measure for accurate readings.

Additional Tools You Will Need

  • Pencil

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets approximately 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional brackets evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure that the fixings are suitable for your wall or mounting surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the positions, allowing space for obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid interference with handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space any additional brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or ceiling surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
