Tools You Will Need to Measure Your Windows

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and noting measurements
  • Worksheet or paper to record measurements
  • Ladder, if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Be careful not to confuse the height and width when noting your measurements, as swapping them may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are all the same size. Measure each window individually, as even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement

  • Measure the area where you want the blind to cover. To reduce gaps for light, we recommend overlapping the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but check for obstacles such as radiators before deciding.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric tapes can stretch or bend, giving inaccurate readings.

Inside Recess Measurement

  • Use this method if you want the blind to fit within the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess, which is the complete size of the opening. We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement for accuracy.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will adjust the size to ensure the blind fits perfectly.
  • Use a metal tape measure for precise measurements.

Face Fix Installation

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the remaining brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the positions carefully, allowing room for obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets approximately 10cm from the ends of the headrail to avoid obstruction. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional brackets evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or ceiling surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, then rotate it until it clicks into position. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the specified point.
