Tools You Need to Measure Roman Blinds:
Tips for Accurate Measuring:
Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, it is recommended that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
The overlap at the bottom depends on your choice, but keep in mind any obstacles such as radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes may bend or stretch and cause incorrect readings.
If you want your blind to sit inside the recess, measure the full width and height of the recess (the opening itself). Adjustments will then be made to make sure the blind fits correctly.
Measure both width and drop in three places, then use the smallest figures. Do not make any deductions yourself, as this will be handled for you to guarantee a precise fit. Again, always use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.
Your vertical blind should include the following:
You will also need:
Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the extra ones evenly across the length of the blind. Always ensure the fixings are suitable for the surface you are attaching them to.
To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, then secure it by tightening the small screw located at the front of the bracket.
Measure and mark carefully, making sure there is space for handles or other fittings that may stick into the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm from the ends of the headrail position so that they clear any window handles. If more than two brackets are included, fix the others evenly across the rail. Again, check that the fixings used are suitable for the wall or ceiling surface.
To attach, tilt the headrail into the bracket and rotate it until it clicks securely into position. To release the headrail, press the bracket release point and lift it away.
