TOOLS NEEDED FOR MEASURING VERTICAL BLINDS:
TIPS FOR GETTING ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS:
Measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, allow the blind to extend at least 70mm above the window recess and 50mm on each side.
For the length at the bottom, it is up to you, but remember to consider obstacles such as radiators.
Use a steel tape measure, as fabric ones can stretch or bend and give the wrong measurements.
Take this measurement if you want the blind to sit neatly inside the recess. Measure the total width and height of the opening, and the necessary deductions will be made to ensure a correct fit.
Measure at three points across both width and height, then use the smallest figure.
Do not make your own deductions, as these will already be made to guarantee a proper fit.
Always use a steel tape measure instead of a cloth one to avoid errors.
Before you start, check you have all the items supplied with your vertical blind.
EXTRA EQUIPMENT YOU WILL NEED:
Fix the brackets about 5cm in from both ends of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the rest evenly across the length. Always make sure the fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface you are using.
Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, turn it into position, and tighten the small screw at the front to lock it in place.
Mark the fixing points clearly, leaving enough space for items such as window handles that extend into the recess. Position the brackets about 10cm in from both ends of the headrail. If extra brackets are provided, place them at even gaps along the blind. Always check that the surface is strong enough for the fixings.
Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until you hear it click into place, and to remove it later, press the release point on the bracket.
