Tools You Will Need

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil to mark measurements
  • Worksheet to record sizes
  • Ladder for tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Always keep height and width separate. Mixing them up can result in a blind that does not fit.
  • Measure each window individually. Even similar-looking windows can have small differences, which affect how the blind fits.

Outside Recess

Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, the blind should overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.

The bottom overlap can be chosen based on preference, but remember any obstacles such as radiators.

Use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes can stretch or bend, giving inaccurate measurements.

Inside Recess

If you want the blind to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will make the necessary deductions for a perfect fit.

Measure three times for both width and drop and use the smallest measurement.

Do not make deductions yourself, as we will adjust them to ensure the blind fits perfectly.

Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.

Make sure you have all items that come with the blind before starting installation.

Extra Equipment You Might Need:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Position the brackets approximately 5cm from each end of the headrail. If extra brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.

Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

Mark the bracket positions, allowing space for handles or other obstacles in the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail to clear window handles. If additional brackets are included, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.

Tilt the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until it clicks into place, and to release it, push the bracket at the marked point.
