Tools You Will Need

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil to mark and write your measurements
  • A worksheet to record your findings
  • A ladder if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measuring

  • Keep height and width measurements separate. Mixing them up could result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If you are measuring more than one window, measure each window individually. Small differences can make a big impact on the fit.

Measuring for Outside Recess

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, allow at least 70mm overlap at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is up to you, but take obstacles like radiators into account.
  • Always use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes can stretch or bend, which may give inaccurate results.

Measuring for Inside Recess

  • If you want your blind to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will make the necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Take three measurements for both width and drop, and use the smallest figure.
  • Do not make any adjustments yourself. We will ensure the blind fits perfectly.
  • Use a metal tape measure for the most accurate results.

Before installation, check that you have all the parts included with your vertical blind.

Extra Equipment Needed

  • Two top-fix brackets
  • Two face-fix brackets
  • One set of hangers
  • One Allen key
  • Two stabilising chains
  • One safety hook
  • Four wood screws
  • One weight
  • A pencil
  • Extra screws
  • A drill with the correct bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from the ends of the headrail. If there are more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly along the length. Make sure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and tighten the short screw at the front to secure it.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the positions carefully, allowing space for obstacles such as window handles.
  • Place the brackets approximately 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid handles. If there are more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket, and rotate it until it clicks. To release the headrail, press the bracket at the release point.
