Tools Required:

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and recording measurements
  • Worksheet to note down measurements
  • Ladder for tall windows, if necessary

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

  • Do not confuse the height and width measurements when writing them down, as this may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are the same size. Measure each one individually as slight differences can affect the fit.

Inside Recess Measurement

To fit a blind inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the recess (the size of the opening). Take three measurements across the width (top, middle, bottom) and three measurements for the height (left, right, centre). Use the smallest measurements for ordering.

Always use a steel tape measure to get accurate measurements in centimetres to the nearest millimetre. The factory will make any deductions needed for recess-specified blinds to ensure a perfect fit. Be careful when measuring around obstacles such as tiles, handles, or rails.

Outside Recess Measurement

For blinds fitted outside the window recess, we will make them exactly to the measurements you provide, with no deductions.

Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce sunlight entering the room, we recommend an overlap of 6cm on each side and 7cm at the top. The overlap at the bottom is optional, but consider any obstacles such as radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes may stretch and give inaccurate measurements.

You may choose either:

Top Mount – brackets fixed to an overhead surface such as the top of the window recess or the ceiling.

Face Mount – brackets fixed to the front of the window frame.

Position the brackets so that the blind operates freely and does not touch handles or window frames. Loosely position both brackets on the blind and place it in the window to check alignment. This will help you centre the blind accurately.

Place the control side bracket on the same side as the chain mechanism. Mark the first bracket’s position, making sure it is level and not twisted, as this will affect the blind’s operation. Drill the holes and fix the bracket using rawl plugs if attaching to a wall.

Insert one side of the blind into the mounted bracket. Position the other bracket at the opposite end, mark it level with the first bracket, then drill and fix it using rawl plugs if needed.

Mounting the Blind

Insert the pin side of the blind into the pin-side bracket. The pin has a spring mechanism to make mounting and unmounting easier. Insert the control mechanism into the control-side bracket. The central lug on the control mechanism should point downwards and fit into the bracket securely.

Operating the Blind

Once installed, use the side chain to raise or lower the blind.

P-Clip:

Install the P-clip as far as possible from the control mechanism to keep the looper chain taut. Make sure the chain runs through the P-clip, stays tight, and moves freely. Screw the tensioning device to the wall, keeping the chain under constant tension. This will ensure the chain remains secure and correctly aligned.
