Tools You Will Need

  • A steel tape measure
  • Pencil to mark and record measurements
  • Worksheet to write down measurements
  • Ladder if the window is tall

Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Keep height and width separate. Mixing them up could result in a blind that does not fit correctly.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are the same size. Measure each window individually, as small differences can make a big impact on how the blinds fit.

Inside Recess Measurement

If your blind is to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the recess, which is the size of the opening.

  • Take three measurements across the width (top, middle, bottom) and three down the height (left, centre, right).
  • Use the smallest measurement for ordering. Do not make any deductions; the factory will make the necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.
  • Use a metal tape measure for accuracy; cloth tapes can stretch and give incorrect readings.
  • Be careful of obstacles like tiles, handles, or rails, and ensure your measurements are precise.

Outside Recess Measurement

If your blind is to fit outside the recess, we will make it to the exact measurements you provide with no deductions.

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we recommend an overlap of at least 7cm at the top and 6cm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but remember to allow for obstacles such as radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch and bend, leading to inaccurate measurements.
  • Be careful when measuring around obstacles such as tiles or window rails.

Mounting Options

Please select your preferred mounting method:

  • Top mount: Mounting to an overhead surface such as the top of the window recess or ceiling.
  • Face mount: Mounting to the front of the window frame.

Positioning the Brackets

Position the brackets so that the blind can operate freely without touching handles or windows. Loosely attach both brackets to the blind and place it in the window to check the position. This will make it easier to centre the blind.

Installing the Control Side Bracket

Place the control side bracket on the same side as the chain mechanism. Mark its position, ensuring it is level and not twisted, as this will affect the operation. Drill holes and fix the bracket using raw plugs if attaching to a wall.

Mounting the Blind

Insert one end of the blind into the mounted bracket. Place the other bracket at the opposite end, mark the position, and ensure it is level with the first. Drill holes and secure the bracket in place using raw plugs if fitting to a wall.

Insert the pin side of the blind into the pin side bracket. The pin has a spring mechanism to help with mounting and removal. Insert the control mechanism into the control side bracket, making sure the central lug points down and fits into the cross-section of the bracket.

Operating the Blind

Use the side chain to raise and lower the blind once it is installed.

P-Clip Installation

The p-clip should be installed at the maximum distance from the control mechanism to keep the looper chain tight.

  • Ensure the chain sits inside the p-clip.
  • Keep the chain taut and the p-clip at the bottom of the loop.
  • Screw the tensioning device to the wall along the length of the blind to maintain constant tension.
  • The chain will remain permanently tight and operate smoothly.
