Roller Blind Measurement

To fit the blind inside the window recess, you must measure the full width and height of the recessed area from wall to wall.

Inside Recess Measurement

  • Take three horizontal measurements across the inside of the window recess – top, middle, and bottom.
  • Take three vertical measurements – left, centre, and right.

Guide for Inside Recess Fitting

  • Use a steel tape measure for precise measurements in centimetres to the nearest millimetre.
  • Measure in three specific places for both width and height and always use the smallest measurement when ordering.
  • The factory will make any required deductions for “recess specified blinds” so the blind fits properly.
  • Be careful of obstacles such as tiles, handles, or rails when measuring to ensure accuracy.

Outside Recess Measurement

If you are fitting the blind outside the window recess, the blind will be made to the exact measurements you provide, with no deductions.

Guide for Outside Recess Fitting

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce sunlight, we recommend adding 6cm overlap on each side and 7cm at the top.
  • Take care when measuring around obstacles such as tiles or rails.
  • Overlapping at the bottom of the window is optional and based on your preference.

Please choose your fitting style:

  • Top mount: Fitted to an overhead surface, such as the top of the window recess or the ceiling.
  • Face mount: Fitted to the front of the window frame.

Positioning the Brackets

  • Position the brackets so that the blind operates freely without touching door handles or the window.
  • Loosely attach both brackets to the blind, place it in the window, and adjust until centred. This will show you where the brackets should go.

Installing the Brackets

  • Place the control side bracket on the same side as the chain control. Mark the position carefully, ensuring it is level and straight.
  • Drill holes and secure the bracket with screws, using raw plugs if fitting to a wall.
  • Insert one end of the blind into the mounted bracket.
  • Place the other bracket on the opposite end of the blind, mark its position, and ensure it is level with the first bracket.
  • Drill holes and secure the second bracket using raw plugs if necessary.

Mounting the Blind

  • Insert the pin side of the blind into the pin bracket. The pin has a spring mechanism to make mounting and removal easier.
  • Insert the control mechanism into the control bracket. The central lug on the mechanism must point downwards and lock into place in the bracket.

Operating the Blind

Once fitted, use the side chain to raise or lower the blind smoothly.

P-Clip

  • Install the p-clip as far from the control mechanism as possible to avoid slack in the looped chain.
  • Ensure the control chain passes through the p-clip and remains tight, with the p-clip at the bottom of the loop.
  • Fix the tensioning device securely to the wall, ensuring the chain stays taut at all times.
  • This keeps the chain permanently under tension for safe and easy use.
