Roller Blinds – Inside Recess Measurement

If you would like the blind to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the recessed space (wall to wall).

Inside Recess Guide

  • Take three width measurements across the top, middle, and bottom of the window.
  • Take three height measurements down the left, right, and centre.
  • Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy (measure in centimetres to the nearest millimetre).
  • For ordering, use the smallest measurement. The factory will make any necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit for recess-specified blinds.
  • Take care with any obstructions such as handles, tiles, or rails, and make sure your measuring is exact.

Roller Blinds – Outside Recess Measurement

If you want the blind to sit outside the recess, the blind will be produced to your exact size with no deductions.

Outside Recess Guide

  • Measure the full width of the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce sunlight effectively, we suggest adding a 6cm overlap on each side and 7cm above the window.
  • Check for possible obstructions such as tiles or rails to make sure the blind can be fitted properly.
  • It is up to you whether you want the blind to extend below the bottom of the window.

You can select one of the following fitting styles:

  • Top mount – fitted to an overhead surface such as the ceiling or the top of the window recess.
  • Face mount – fitted to the wall or window frame outside the recess.

Position the brackets so that the blind can operate freely without touching window handles, doors, or other obstacles. Place the brackets loosely on the blind and hold them in position at the window to check alignment before fixing. This will make it easier to centre the blind correctly.

Fix the control side bracket on the same side as the chain or motor mechanism. Mark its position carefully, ensuring it is straight and level, as any tilt could affect performance. Drill holes and secure the bracket firmly, using raw plugs if fixing into a wall.

Insert one end of the blind into the mounted bracket. Next, place the second bracket on the opposite side and mark its position, making sure it lines up with the first. Drill holes and fix it in place securely.

Mounting the Blind

  • Insert the pin end of the blind into the pin bracket. This side has a spring action to make it easier to install and remove.
  • Insert the control mechanism into the control bracket. The central lug of the control side should face downwards and slot into the bracket securely.

Operating the Blind

Once fitted, the blind can be opened and closed using the control chain or remote, depending on your chosen system.

P-Clip Safety Device

The safety device must be installed as far as possible from the control mechanism to prevent the chain from hanging loosely.

  • Ensure the control chain is placed inside the P-clip.
  • Keep the chain tight so the P-clip remains at the bottom of the loop.
  • Attach the tensioning device securely to the wall, making sure the chain stays firm and under constant tension.

This keeps the chain safe, secure, and fully functional.
