Cairo Silver – Blackout Vertical Replacement Slats

All of our replacement vertical blind vanes are 89mm wide and are supplied with the top hanger already attached. They also include white weights and chains as standard. If preferred, you can upgrade the weights for an extra cost. Each vane comes with a single slot that allows you to connect it to your existing headrail.

A slat-only measurement refers to the length of the vertical blind fabric when laid flat. The width of each slat is usually 89mm, which is by far the most common size and the one used for the majority of fabrics offered.

When placing your order, check carefully that the chosen fabric is the correct width. Measurements should be taken to the nearest centimetre. Then subtract 1cm from both the height and width. Do not make any further deductions.

If no slat is available, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the size you need for your window.
  2. Measure from the track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  3. The end of the slat should sit about 13mm above any obstruction, such as a sill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering Slats

  • Count either your current slats or the number of carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total quantity required when placing your order.

Before starting the fitting process, make sure you have the following items with your vertical blind:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • Screws
  • A pencil
  • A drill with the correct drill bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail position.
  • If more than two brackets are included, space the extra brackets evenly along the length of the blind.
  • Check that the fixings you are using are suitable for the type of wall or surface.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate into place, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

  • Measure and mark carefully to allow for any obstacles such as handles that extend into the recess.
  • Position the brackets roughly 10cm from the ends of the headrail so the blind clears the window handle.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the additional ones at equal spacing along the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface being used.
  • To fit, tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket, and rotate it into place until it clicks.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
