When measuring for slats only, take the length of the vertical blind fabric while it is laid flat. The width of the slat is generally 89mm, which is the most widely used size and the size offered for most fabrics.

When placing an order, make sure the chosen fabric matches the correct width. Measure to the nearest centimetre, and do not make any deductions to the height or width. Accuracy is important.

If you do not have a slat available to measure, please follow these steps:

  • Measure the size directly at your window.
  • Measure from the top of the track down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should stop around 13mm above any obstruction such as a window sill or radiator.

Counting and Calculating the Slats Needed

  • Count the existing slats or the number of carriers (trucks) on your headrail.
  • Enter the full quantity of slats required when placing your order.

Before fitting, make sure you have all the components that come with your vertical blind.

Additional tools and equipment you will need include:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 hanger
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 bottom weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws if needed
  • A drill with the correct drill bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail location. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra brackets evenly along the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings used are suitable for the type of wall or surface where the brackets are being fitted.

To install, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw located at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation

Measure and mark the correct distance, allowing space for any obstructions such as window handles that extend into the recess. Position the brackets roughly 10cm from each end of the headrail so that they clear the handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space them evenly across the headrail. Always ensure that the fixings are suitable for the chosen surface.

To fit the headrail, tilt and hook it into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the release section on the bracket.
