A slat-only measurement includes the length of the vertical blind fabric laid flat. The slat width is usually 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most fabrics offered.

When ordering, double-check that the fabric you select matches the correct width. (Measure to the nearest centimetre. For height and width, measure carefully but do not make any deductions yourself.)

If no slat is available, follow these steps:

  • Measure the size you need at your window.
  • Measure from the track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should end around 13mm above any obstruction, such as a sill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering Slats

  • Count either the existing slats or the number of carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number you need when placing your order.

Make sure you have the following items that are provided with your vertical blind:

Additional equipment required during fitting:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with the right drill bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are included, space the extras evenly across the blind.
  • Check that the fixings are appropriate for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

  • Measure and mark the space carefully, leaving enough room for any obstacles such as window handles.
  • Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail so that the blind clears the window handle opener. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket at the marked point, then rotate into position until it clicks. To release the headrail, press the bracket at that point.
