The measurement for β€œslat only” means the length of the fabric when the slat is laid flat. The usual width is 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most fabrics.

When ordering, make sure the fabric you choose matches the correct width. Take your measurement to the nearest centimetre and then reduce both the height and width by 1cm. Do not make any other deductions.

If you do not have existing slats, follow these steps:

  • Measure the full size you need at the window.
  • Measure from the headrail opening down to the point where you want the slat to end.
  • The bottom of the slat should finish around 13mm above any obstruction such as a window sill or radiator.

Working Out the Quantity You Need

  • Count the slats you already have, or count the number of carriers (trucks) on the headrail.
  • When ordering, type in the total number of slats required.

When fitting your vertical blind, make sure you have the following items included:

  • 2 x top fix brackets
  • 2 x face fix brackets
  • 1 x set of hangers
  • 1 x Allan key
  • 2 x stabilising chains
  • 1 x safety hook
  • 4 x wood screws
  • 1 x weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with the correct drill bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

  • Position the brackets around 5cm in from both ends of the headrail.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, place the extras at even intervals across the length of the blind.
  • Check that the fixings you use are suitable for the type of wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

  • Measure and mark the section carefully, leaving enough space for any obstructions such as window handles that project into the recess.
  • Fit the brackets about 10cm in from each end of the headrail, which ensures the blind clears the window handle.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra brackets evenly along the headrail.
  • Always make sure the fixings are right for the wall or surface.
  • Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket to release it.
