Tools You Will Need for Measuring Vertical Blinds:
Helpful Tips for Accurate Measuring:
Measure the exact area you would like the blind to cover. To reduce light coming through the edges, it is recommended that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
The amount of overlap at the bottom of the blind is your choice, but remember to allow space for anything in the way, such as radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric ones can bend or stretch and give you incorrect results.
If you want the blind to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and drop of the recess (essentially the size of the gap). We will then make the correct allowances so that the blind fits properly.
Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, and always use the smallest measurements. Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will take care of that for you. Use a metal tape measure rather than a cloth one, since it gives more precise results.
When fitting your vertical blind, please make sure you have all the following items included with your order:
Extra Tools and Equipment You Will Need:
Position the brackets about 5cm from the ends of where the headrail will be placed. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the extra brackets evenly across the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface you are attaching them to.
To fit the headrail, hook the back into the bracket, rotate it into place, and then secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.
Mark and measure carefully, allowing for any obstructions such as window handles that stick out into the recess. Brackets should be fixed about 10cm from each end of the headrail, which ensures clearance from handles. If you have more than two brackets, fit the additional ones evenly along the blind’s length. Always check that the fixings are suitable for the surface you are working with.
To install, tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks securely. If you need to remove it, simply press the release point on the bracket.
