Slat-only measurement refers to the length of the blind fabric when laid flat. The width of each slat is usually 89mm, which is the most common size and the one available across most fabric options.

When placing your order, always check that the chosen fabric matches the correct slat width. Measure to the nearest centimetre and subtract 1cm from both the width and height. Do not make any other deductions yourself.

If you have no slat available, follow these steps:

  • Measure the size required directly at your window.
  • Measure from the top track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should stop about 13mm above any obstacle such as a radiator or window sill.

Calculating the number of slats required:

  • Count the number of existing slats or the number of carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter this total number when placing your order.

Make sure you have all of the following parts before you begin fitting your vertical blind:

Additional equipment required:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with suitable drill bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail.
  • If you have more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly along the length of the blind.
  • Ensure that the fixings are appropriate for the type of wall or surface you are using.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it forward into place, and tighten the small screw at the front to secure it.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Mark the distance carefully, taking into account any handles or other obstacles that extend into the recess.
  • Position the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail so the blind clears any window handles.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, install the others at equal distances across the headrail.
  • Ensure that all fixings are suitable for the surface you are attaching them to.
  • To fit, tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until it clicks into place, and to remove it, press the release point on the bracket.
