A slat-only measurement refers to the fabric length of the vertical blind when laid flat. The standard slat width is usually 89mm, which is the most widely used size and the size that most of our fabrics are available in.

When placing your order, double-check that your chosen fabric is suitable for the required width. Always measure to the nearest centimetre. Do not make any deductions to the width or height measurements yourself.

If No Slat Is Available

  • Measure the window size where the blind will be installed.
  • Measure from the track opening down to the point where you would like the slat to finish.
  • The slat should end around 13mm above any obstruction, such as a window sill or a radiator.

Counting and Ordering Slats

  • Count the number of existing slats or count the carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number required when completing your order.

Before fitting, check that you have all the items supplied with your vertical blind.

Additional tools and equipment you may need:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Additional screws
  • A drill with the correct drill bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are provided, fit the extra brackets evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface where the brackets will be installed.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure the headrail.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Measure and mark the correct position, allowing for any obstacles such as window handles that may extend into the recess.
  • Fit the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail so that the blind clears any handle. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra ones evenly across the length.
  • Ensure that the fixings are right for the surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket at the marked point, then rotate into place until it clicks securely. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the release point.
