A slat-only measurement refers to the length of the blind fabric when laid flat. The standard slat width is normally 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most of our fabrics.

When placing your order, make sure the fabric you select is suitable for the width required. Always measure to the nearest centimetre. Do not make any deductions yourself to the height or width.

If No Slat Is Available

  • Measure the size of the space at your window.
  • Measure from the track opening down to the point where you would like the slat to finish.
  • The slat should end about 13mm above any obstacles such as a window sill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering Slats

  • Count the existing slats or count the carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number needed when placing your order.

Before starting, check that all the items supplied with your vertical blind are present.

Additional tools and items you will need for fitting include:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Extra screws if required
  • A drill with the correct drill bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are supplied, place the extra brackets evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings used are suitable for the wall or surface where the brackets are being attached.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure the headrail firmly.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Measure and mark the correct position, making sure to leave room for any obstacles such as window handles that may extend into the recess.
  • Place the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail, which will allow the blind to clear the handle. If more than two brackets are provided, space the extras evenly along the length.
  • Ensure the fixings used are right for the type of surface.
  • Tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket at the marked point, and rotate it into place until it clicks. To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
