Tools You Will Need

  • Steel tape measure
  • Pencil to mark and note measurements
  • Worksheet to record your findings
  • Ladder, if measuring tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Do not confuse width and height when writing your measurements, as swapping them may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • For multiple windows, measure each one separately. Even small differences can affect how the blinds fit.

Outside Recess

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, let the blind overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but consider any obstacles such as radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure; cloth ones may stretch or bend and give incorrect measurements.

Inside Recess

  • Measure if you want the blind to fit neatly inside the window opening. Take the full width and height of the recess (the hole size), and we will make the correct adjustments for a perfect fit.
  • Take three measurements for both width and drop and use the smallest figure.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will handle that to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch and give inaccurate results.

Face Fix

  • Position brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are supplied, space extra brackets evenly across the length. Ensure fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and secure it by tightening the short screw at the front.

Top Fix

  • Measure and mark the area to allow clearance for window handles or other obstacles. Place brackets approximately 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid clashes. If extra brackets are supplied, space them evenly across the blind. Ensure fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets at the marked points. Rotate until it clicks into place. To remove, press the bracket release.
