If you want the blind to sit outside the window recess, measure the exact size of the space you want it to cover. To reduce light leakage, make sure the blind extends at least 70mm above the recess and 50mm on each side.
At the bottom, the overlap is up to you, though you should consider obstacles such as radiators. Always use a metal measuring tape, as fabric ones can bend or stretch, leading to incorrect sizes.
For a blind fitted inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. Adjustments will then be made for you to guarantee a precise fit.
Check that you have all the necessary parts before fitting your vertical blind.
Place the brackets about 5cm from the ends of where the headrail will be fitted. If you have extra brackets, space them evenly along the blind. Ensure the fixings you use are suitable for the surface.
To install, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, turn it into place, and tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure it.
Mark out the bracket positions clearly, allowing space for any handles or other fittings that may stick into the recess. Place brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid clashing with handles. If additional brackets are supplied, fit them evenly across the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings you use are right for the surface.
To install, tilt the headrail into the bracket and turn it until it clicks securely in place. To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
