Tools you will need for measuring vertical blinds:

  • A steel tape measure
  • A pencil to mark and note sizes
  • A sheet to record your measurements
  • A step ladder if your windows are tall

Tips for accurate measuring:

  • Write down height and width separately to avoid confusion, as mixing them up could result in blinds that don’t fit.
  • Always measure each window individually. Even small size differences can affect how the blinds fit.
  • If fitting outside the recess, measure the exact space you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, let the blind extend at least 70mm above the recess and 50mm on each side.
  • At the bottom, choose the length you prefer, but remember to allow space for items like radiators.
  • Always use a steel tape measure, as fabric ones can bend or stretch and give the wrong results.

Inside Recess Measuring:

  • If you want the blind inside the recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will adjust the size to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three spots across both width and height, and record the smallest size.
  • Do not make any adjustments yourself; we will take care of them.
  • Again, always use a steel tape for accuracy.

Items included with your vertical blind fitting:

  • Top fix brackets (x2)
  • Face fix brackets (x2)
  • Hangers (x1)
  • Allen key (x1)
  • Stabilising chains (x2)
  • Safety hook (x1)
  • Weights (x1)
  • Wood screws (x4)
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting:

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If more brackets are included, fix them evenly across the rail length.
  • Make sure the fittings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into position. Tighten the short screw at the front to secure it.

Top Fix Fitting:

  • Mark out the position, leaving space for any handles or parts that stick out into the recess.
  • Fit the brackets around 10cm from each end of where the headrail will go. This allows room to clear handles.
  • Add any extra brackets supplied at equal spacing across the rail.
  • Make sure all fixings are secure and suitable for the surface.
  • Tilt and slot the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks in place. To remove it, press the bracket release.
