Measure the full size of the area you want the blind to cover. To help reduce light entering the room, it is best to let the blind extend at least 70mm above the recess and 50mm on either side.
At the bottom, the overlap is your choice, but remember to consider items like radiators that may be in the way. Always use a metal measuring tape, as cloth tapes can bend or stretch and give incorrect results.
Take this measurement if you want your blind to fit inside the window opening. Measure the full width and height of the recess. Adjustments will then be made to ensure the blind fits correctly.
Measure in three places for both width and drop, and record the smallest numbers. Do not make any changes yourself, as this will be done for you. Again, use a metal measuring tape to avoid errors caused by stretching cloth tapes.
When fitting your vertical blind, make sure you have the parts supplied, along with some extra tools you may need.
Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are provided, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Always make sure the fixings are secure for the type of wall or surface you are attaching them to.
To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to hold it firmly.
When fixing inside a recess, measure carefully and allow for handles or other obstacles. Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of where the headrail will sit, ensuring it clears the handle area. If you have more than two brackets, space them evenly across the rail. Again, check that the fixings are suitable for the surface.
Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, push the bracket to release it.
