Tools You Will Need to Measure Vertical Blinds:

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and noting measurements
  • A worksheet to record your results
  • A ladder if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Keep height and width separate when writing measurements. Mixing them up can cause the blind not to fit.
  • If measuring more than one window, measure each individually. Do not assume they are the same, as small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, allow the blind to overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is your choice, but consider obstacles like radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure, not a cloth one, to avoid stretching and inaccurate readings.

Inside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the full width and height of the window recess if you want the blind to fit inside. Appropriate deductions will be made to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure three places for both the width and drop, and use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will do that for you.
  • Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.

Items Supplied with Your Vertical Blind:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chain x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Weight x1

Extra Equipment You Will Need:

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation:

  • Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly along the length. Make sure fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and tighten the front screw to secure it.

Top Fix Installation:

  • Measure and mark the bracket positions, leaving space for obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end to clear handles. Additional brackets should be spaced evenly. Ensure fixings are suitable for the surface.
  • Hook the headrail into the brackets, rotate until it clicks into position, and secure it. To release, press the bracket catch.
