Tools You Will Need:

  • A metal measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and noting measurements
  • A worksheet to record your figures
  • A step ladder (if the windows are tall)

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Keep the width and height measurements separate. Mixing them up can result in blinds that do not fit properly.
  • Do not assume two windows are identical in size. Measure each one individually and write down every result. Small differences can affect how the blinds fit.

Measuring Outside the Recess

  • Measure the full size of the area you would like the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light gaps, the blind should overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The amount of overlap at the bottom is your choice, but check for obstacles such as radiators.
  • Always use a metal measuring tape. Fabric ones may stretch or bend, which can lead to incorrect results.

Measuring Inside the Recess

  • Measure the total width and height of the recess (the inside opening of the window).
  • Take measurements in three places across the width and three places down the drop, then use the smallest sizes recorded.
  • Do not make your own deductions – we will do this for you so that the blind fits perfectly.
  • Always use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.

When fitting your vertical blinds, make sure you have received the full set of supplied parts.

Included Items:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Additional screws
  • Drill with the correct drill bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

  • Position the brackets around 5cm in from each end of where the headrail will sit.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, place the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are appropriate for the surface you are attaching to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into position. Tighten the short screw at the front of the bracket to secure the headrail.

Top Fix

  • First measure and mark the positions, allowing clearance for any obstructions such as window handles that extend into the recess.
  • Place the brackets around 10cm in from each end of where the headrail will be fitted.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, install the additional ones evenly along the headrail.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the wall or ceiling surface you are mounting onto.
  • Insert the headrail by tilting and hooking it into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place.
  • To release the headrail, press the bracket at the release point.
