Tools You Will Need:

  • A steel tape measure.
  • A pencil for writing and marking.
  • A worksheet to note all measurements.
  • A ladder if you are working with tall windows.

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Always write down the height and width correctly. Mixing them up may result in blinds that do not fit.
  • When measuring more than one window, measure each window individually. Do not assume they are all the same, as even slight differences can affect how the blinds fit.
  • Always use a steel tape measure, as fabric or plastic tape measures may stretch and bend, leading to inaccurate results.

Measuring for Outside Recess:

  • Measure the full area you would like the blind to cover.
  • To prevent light from leaking through the edges, allow the blind to overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The overlap at the bottom is your choice, but remember to take into account items such as radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape measure for accurate results.

Measuring for Inside Recess:

  • Take the full height and width of the window recess. We will make the necessary small deductions to ensure the blind fits perfectly.
  • Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, and always record the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself. We will do this for you to guarantee a neat fit.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can give false readings.

Please check that you have the following items included with your blind:

Included Items and Tools Required:

  • 2 x top fix brackets.
  • 2 x face fix brackets.
  • 1 x set of hangers.
  • 1 x Allen key.
  • 2 x stabilising chains.
  • 1 x safety hook.
  • 4 x wood screws.
  • 1 x bottom weight.
  • Screws.
  • A pencil.
  • A drill with the correct drill bits.
  • A crosshead screwdriver.
  • A steel tape measure.

Face Fixing Method:

  • Place the brackets around 5cm from both ends of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are supplied, place the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Check that your fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into place. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure it.

Top Fixing Method:

  • Measure carefully and mark your positions, taking into account any obstacles such as window handles that stick out into the recess.
  • Position the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail, which will allow clearance for window handles. If more than two brackets are provided, spread them evenly along the length of the rail.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the surface you are working with.
  • Tilt the headrail into the bracket and rotate until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
