Tools Required

  • Steel measuring tape.
  • Pencil for marking and writing down figures.
  • A worksheet to record all measurements.
  • A ladder, if measuring tall windows.

Important Measuring Tips

  • Do not mix up width and height when recording your figures, as this could lead to blinds that do not fit.
  • If measuring more than one window, measure each one separately. Do not assume they are all the same size, as even small differences can affect the fitting.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tape measures may bend or stretch, giving you inaccurate results.

Measuring for Outside Recess

  • Measure the size of the area you would like the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light gaps, we recommend allowing at least 70mm overlap at the top and 50mm overlap on each side of the recess.
  • The overlap at the bottom is your choice, but remember to consider any obstacles, such as radiators.
  • Use a steel tape measure to ensure accuracy.

Measuring for Inside Recess

  • Take the full width and drop measurements of the recess (the inside opening of the window).
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, then use the smallest figures.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself. Adjustments will be made during production so your blinds fit correctly.
  • Always use a steel tape measure for precise results.

Please check you have all the items included with your blind:

Items Supplied

  • 2 top fix brackets.
  • 2 face fix brackets.
  • 1 set of hangers.
  • 1 Allan key.
  • 2 stabilising chains.
  • 1 safety hook.
  • 4 wood screws.
  • 1 weight.

Extra Tools You May Need

  • A pencil for marking.
  • Screws (if required).
  • A drill with correct drill bits.
  • A crosshead screwdriver.
  • A steel measuring tape.

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will be placed. If you have more than two brackets, space the extras evenly across the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface where you are installing.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Tighten the small screw on the front of the bracket to secure the rail.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Allow for obstructions such as window handles before fitting. Mark the measurements carefully.
  • Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of where the headrail will be fitted, giving enough clearance for handles. If you have extra brackets, space them evenly across the length.
  • Confirm the fixings are suitable for the ceiling or recess surface.
  • Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket. Rotate into place until you hear a click.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket and lift it out.
