Tools you will need to measure vertical blinds:
Tips to help you measure correctly:
Outside Recess
Measure the full area that you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, it is best if the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side. At the bottom, the overlap depends on your choice, but remember to check for items such as radiators that may get in the way. Always use a steel tape measure, as fabric ones can stretch and bend, giving you the wrong numbers.
Inside Recess
This is the right measurement if you want your blind to sit neatly inside the window recess. Measure the complete width and height of the recess, which is basically the full opening, and we will make the correct allowances to ensure the blind fits properly. Take three measurements across the width and three down the drop, and use the smallest figure in each case. Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will do this for you to achieve a perfect fit. Again, always use a steel tape measure instead of a cloth one to avoid errors.

Extra equipment you will need for fitting:
Face Fix
Place the brackets around 5cm from each end of where the headrail will be fitted. If you have more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly along the blind. Always make sure your fixings are suitable for the wall or surface. To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and turn it into place. Secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.
Top Fix
Mark the distance required to avoid anything that sticks out into the recess, such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail, making sure they clear the handle. If there are more than two brackets, fix the rest evenly across the length. Again, check the fixings are right for the surface. Hook the headrail into the bracket, turn it until it clicks, and it will lock into place. To release it, push the bracket where marked.
