Tools required for measuring vertical blinds:
Tips for accurate measurements:
Measure the full size of the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light coming in, the blind should overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side. The amount of overlap at the bottom is up to you, but make sure to allow for any obstacles, such as radiators.
Take the full width and height of the recess if you want the blind to sit inside the window space. We will make the required adjustments to ensure a neat fit, so you do not need to make any deductions. Measure in three different places for both width and drop, and record the smallest measurement for each. Again, use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.
When fitting your vertical blind, please ensure you have the following parts supplied with it:
Mark out bracket positions about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will be fixed. If you have more than two brackets, space them evenly along the length of the rail. Ensure the fixings are right for the wall or surface you are attaching them to. Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and then secure by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.
First, measure and mark carefully to avoid handles or other obstructions inside the recess. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail, which allows clearance for window handles. If you have more than two brackets, fit them evenly across the length of the blind. Make sure your fixings are suitable for the mounting surface. Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To release the headrail, press the bracket at the release point.
