Tips for accurate measuring:
If you want the blind to cover outside the recess, measure the exact area to be covered. To reduce light entering around the edges, we suggest the blind overlaps the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side. The amount of overlap at the bottom is up to you, though check for obstructions such as radiators. Always measure with a metal tape for accuracy.
For blinds that fit inside the recess, measure the full width and height of the recess opening. Record three measurements for both width and drop, and use the smallest. Do not make deductions yourself – we will do that to ensure a neat fit. Again, a steel tape is recommended to avoid stretching errors.
Before starting, check you have the following supplied with your vertical blind:
Place brackets about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will be fixed. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly along the rail. Always check that fixings suit the type of wall or surface. To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, then secure with the small screw at the front of the bracket.
For top fixing, mark the area carefully, allowing for any obstructions such as handles that may extend into the recess. Position brackets around 10cm from each end of the rail, making sure window handles are cleared. If more than two brackets are supplied, place the others evenly across the length. Ensure wall fixings are suitable. To attach, tilt the headrail into the bracket until it clicks into place. To remove, press the bracket to release the headrail.
