When ordering slats only, the measurement will cover the fabric length of the vertical blind laid flat. The width of a slat is usually 89mm, which is the standard size and the one most of our fabrics are supplied in.

Before ordering, make sure that the fabric you have chosen is the correct width. Always measure to the nearest centimetre. Do not make any deductions to the height or width of your blind.

Measuring Slats

If no slats are currently available, follow these steps:

  • Measure the required size at your window.
  • Measure from the track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should end about 13mm above any obstacle such as a radiator or window sill.

Counting Slats:

  • Count the number of existing slats or check the number of trucks on your headrail.
  • When ordering, enter the full quantity needed.

Make sure you have the following items supplied with your vertical blind before starting:

  • Top fix brackets ×2
  • Face fix brackets ×2
  • Hangers ×1
  • Allen key ×1
  • Stabilising chains ×2
  • Safety hook ×1
  • Wood screws ×4
  • Weights ×1
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with the correct drill bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Position the brackets around 5cm in from each end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly across the length of the blind. Always ensure the fixings you use are suitable for the type of wall or surface.

To install, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it into place. Secure it firmly by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

Measure and mark the distance required to allow for obstacles such as window handles that project into the recess area. Fit the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail position, making sure this clears any handle openers. If more than two brackets are supplied, fix the extra ones evenly along the blind’s length. Confirm that all fixings are suitable for the surface.

To attach, tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into position. To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
