Tools you will need for measuring vertical blinds:

  • A steel tape measure
  • A pencil for marking
  • A worksheet for recording sizes
  • A ladder for tall windows

Helpful tips for accurate measuring:

  • Never mix up width and height, as swapping them will cause the blind not to fit.
  • Measure each window separately. Even small differences in size can change how well the blind fits.
  • For outside recess, measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, add at least 70mm above and 50mm on each side of the window. At the bottom, allow enough space for items such as radiators. Always use a steel tape measure, as cloth ones can bend and stretch.

Inside recess measuring:

  • Measure the full width and height of the recess where you want the blind to sit.
  • Take three measurements for both width and drop, then use the smallest ones.
  • Do not make any size reductions yourself. We will adjust them for the best fit.
  • Use a steel tape for accuracy.

Please check you have all parts included with your blind:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with correct bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will be. If more brackets are provided, space them evenly along the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings suit the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate into place, then tighten the screw at the front to secure.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Mark the correct position, leaving space for handles or obstructions. Place brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail area. If extra brackets are supplied, fit them evenly across the length.
  • Make sure your fixings are suitable for the surface.
  • Hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate until it clicks into place. To remove it, press the bracket release.
