Roller Only Measurement

If you are fitting the blind inside a window recess, you will need to measure the full width and height of the recess area from wall to wall.

Inside Recess Measurement

Take three measurements across the inside of the window recess – at the top, middle, and bottom. Then take three drop measurements – left, right, and centre.

Guide for Inside Recess Fitting

Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy, measuring in centimetres to the nearest millimetre. For ordering, use the smallest measurement for both width and height. The factory will make any deductions needed for β€œrecess fit” blinds to ensure they fit properly. When measuring, take care to allow for any obstructions such as handles, tiles, or rails that could affect the blind’s position.

Outside Recess Measurement

If the blind is to be fitted outside the window recess, it will be made to the exact size you provide, with no deductions made.

Guide for Outside Recess Fitting

Measure the full area that you want the blind to cover. To block sunlight effectively, it is advised to add an overlap of 6 cm on each side and 7 cm above the window. Measure the width of the full coverage area. Again, take care with obstructions such as tiles or rails. You can also choose whether or not to have an overlap at the bottom of the window.

Please decide which fitting option you prefer:

Top Mount: Fixing to an overhead surface such as the ceiling or the top of the window recess.

Face Mount: Fixing directly to the face of the wall or outside the window frame.

The brackets should be positioned so the blind can operate freely without touching handles, window frames, or other fittings. First, loosely fit both brackets to the blind and place it in position at the window to check alignment. This will help you centre the blind and confirm bracket placement.

Place the control-side bracket on the same side as the chain mechanism. Mark the position of this bracket, ensuring it is level. If the bracket is uneven, the blind will not function correctly. Drill holes and fix it securely, using raw plugs when fitting to a wall.

Insert one end of the blind into the first bracket. Then fit the other bracket on the opposite end of the blind, mark its position, and ensure it is aligned with the first bracket. Drill and secure it into place, again using raw plugs if fixing to a wall.

Mounting the Blind

Insert the pin end of the blind into the pin-side bracket. This end has a spring action to make fitting and removal easier. Then insert the control mechanism into the control-side bracket. The small lug on the control mechanism should face downward and slot securely into the bracket.

Operating the Blind

Once fitted, use the side chain to raise and lower the blind as required.

P-Clip

The safety device must be installed as far away as possible from the control mechanism to stop the looped chain from becoming slack.

Make sure the control chain runs through the P-clip and is kept tight. The clip should sit at the lowest point of the loop, allowing the chain to move properly. Screw the tensioning device to the wall beside the blind, keeping the chain tight and under constant tension.
