Tools required for measuring vertical blinds:
Helpful tips for accurate measurements:
Always write height and width separately without mixing them up, as this mistake can cause blinds to be the wrong size.
When measuring more than one window, do not assume the sizes are the same. Measure each one individually, as even small differences can affect the way blinds fit.
Measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, the blind should overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
The amount of overlap at the bottom depends on preference, but do consider anything that may be in the way, such as radiators.
Use a metal measuring tape for best accuracy, as cloth ones may stretch and give the wrong result.
Take these measurements if you want the blind to sit inside the window recess. Measure the total width and drop of the recess. We will make the necessary deductions to ensure the blind fits correctly.
Take measurements in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest figures.
Do not make your own deductions, as we will handle that to ensure the correct fit.
Again, always use a steel tape measure for accuracy.
Please make sure you have the items supplied with your vertical blind.
Extra tools you may need:
Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail. If you have more than two brackets, space the extras evenly across the width of the blind. Make sure your fixings are suitable for the wall or surface you are attaching to. Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.
Measure and mark the space carefully to allow for handles or other obstructions inside the recess. Brackets should be fixed roughly 10cm from each end of the headrail so the blind clears the window handle. If you have more than two brackets, space the others evenly across the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings suit the surface you are attaching to. Hook the headrail into the bracket and rotate until it clicks into place. To remove, simply press the bracket release point.
