Tools You Will Need to Measure Roman Blinds:

  • Metal measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and noting your measurements
  • Worksheet to record your findings
  • Ladder for tall windows, if needed

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

  • Keep height and width measurements separate, as mixing them up can result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If measuring multiple windows, do not assume they are the same size. Measure each one individually, as small differences can make a significant impact on fit.

Outside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, allow the blind to overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional but remember to consider obstacles such as radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes may stretch or bend, giving inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement:

  • This measurement is for blinds that fit within the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess, and the necessary deductions will be made to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; the blind will be adjusted for precise fitting.
  • Use a metal tape for accuracy, as cloth tapes may stretch and provide incorrect measurements.

Items Supplied with Your Roman Blind:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chain x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Weight x1

Additional Tools You Will Need:

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with suitable bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation:

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If extra brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the brackets, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation:

  • Measure and mark positions to allow for obstacles such as window handles. Place the brackets approximately 10cm from each end to clear handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional ones evenly along the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
