Tools Needed for Measuring Vertical Blinds

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil to record measurements
  • Worksheet to note down your findings
  • Ladder (for tall windows if required)

Tips for Accurate Measurements:

  • Make sure you do not mix up the height and width when writing them down, as swapping them could result in a blind that does not fit.
  • If you are measuring more than one window, do not assume they are the same size. Measure each window individually. Small differences can affect how the blinds fit.

Outside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the exact area where you want the blind to overlap. To reduce light leakage, we recommend that the blind overlaps the top of the recess by at least 70mm and each side by 50mm.
  • The bottom overlap is a personal choice, but consider any obstacles like radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes can stretch or bend, which may give inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement:

  • Use this measurement if you want the blind to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess, and we will make the necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will do this to ensure the blind fits correctly.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes may stretch and provide inaccurate measurements.

Items Included with Your Vertical Blind:

  • Top fix brackets x2
  • Face fix brackets x2
  • Hangers x1
  • Allen key x1
  • Stabilising chain x2
  • Safety hook x1
  • Wood screws x4
  • Weight x1

Additional Tools You Will Need:

  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with appropriate bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix:

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If there are more than two brackets, space the additional ones evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix:

  • Measure and mark the area, allowing for obstacles such as window handles.
  • Position the brackets about 10cm from the ends of the headrail. If more than two brackets are included, space the rest evenly along the length. Make sure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket, and rotate until it clicks into position. To remove, press the bracket at the designated point.
