Tools You Will Need

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and recording measurements
  • Worksheet to note down findings
  • Ladder if your windows are tall

Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Do not confuse height and width when writing down your measurements. Mixing them up may result in a blind that does not fit correctly.
  • If measuring multiple windows, measure each one separately. Slight differences between windows can affect the fit significantly.

Outside Recess Measurement

If you want the blind to sit outside the window recess:

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light coming through the edges, allow at least 70mm overlap at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is optional, but consider obstacles like radiators.
  • Always use a metal tape measure as cloth ones may stretch or bend, giving incorrect measurements.

Inside Recess Measurement

If you want the blind to fit inside the window recess:

  • Measure the full width and height of the recess. This is the β€œhole” size, and the necessary deductions will be made to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and height, and use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; we will adjust for a precise fit.
  • Use a metal tape measure for accuracy, as cloth tapes may stretch.

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, place the extra brackets evenly along the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface you are attaching the brackets to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark areas to allow clearance for obstacles like window handles.
  • Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail to ensure they clear window handles.
  • Fit any additional brackets evenly along the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or ceiling surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To release, press the bracket at the marked point.
