A slat-only measurement refers to the length of the blind fabric when laid flat. The width of the slat is usually 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most of the fabrics available.

When placing an order, make sure the fabric chosen is the correct width. Always measure to the nearest centimetre and then reduce both the height and width by 1cm. Do not make any further deductions yourself.

If You Do Not Have Slats – Follow These Steps:

  • Measure the exact size needed directly at your window.
  • Measure from the headrail truck opening down to the point where you would like the slat to finish.
  • The slat should stop around 13mm above any obstacle such as a radiator or window sill.

How to Count and Order the Correct Number of Slats:

  • Count the number of slats already on your blind or the number of trucks on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number required when you place your order.

Check you have the following items that come with your blind before starting:

Extra Tools and Equipment You Will Need:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 bottom weight
  • A pencil
  • Additional screws if required
  • A drill with suitable bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Fit the brackets about 5cm in from each end of the headrail position.
  • If you have more than 2 brackets, space the rest evenly across the length of the rail.
  • Check that the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface you are attaching them to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and then secure it by tightening the small screw at the front.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Measure and mark the space carefully to avoid obstacles such as window handles that stick out.
  • Position the brackets around 10cm in from the ends of the headrail so they clear the handle of the window opener.
  • If more than 2 brackets are included, fix the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings used are right for the surface you are attaching them to.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until it clicks into place, and it will be secure.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket and lift it free.
