Measure the exact size of the space you would like the blind to cover. To help reduce light gaps, the blind should overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm at each side.
The amount of overlap at the bottom depends on your own choice, but remember to allow for objects such as radiators.
Use a steel tape measure rather than a cloth one, as fabric tape can bend or stretch and give the wrong results.
If you want the blind to fit neatly inside the recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will then make the required reductions to ensure the blind fits properly.
Take measurements in three places across the width and the drop, then use the smallest figures.
Do not reduce any sizes yourself, as we will do that for you to make sure the fit is exact.
Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.
Before starting, check that you have all the items supplied with your vertical blind.
Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If you have more than two brackets, space the extras evenly along the rail. Check that the fixings you are using are suitable for the wall or surface.
Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and turn it into place. Tighten the small screw on the front of the bracket to hold the headrail securely.
Mark where the brackets will go, making sure there is enough room for handles or other parts that may stick into the recess. Brackets should be positioned around 10cm from the ends of the headrail so that window handles can open easily. If more than two brackets are included, place the extras at equal distances along the rail. Make sure the fixings are suitable for the surface.
Hook the headrail into the bracket at an angle, then turn it until it clicks into place. To remove it, push the bracket at the marked point.
