Tools Required:

  • A metal measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and noting sizes
  • A sheet to record measurements
  • A step ladder (if measuring tall windows)

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Always keep height and width measurements separate to avoid confusion. Mixing them up can cause the blind not to fit correctly.
  • When measuring more than one window, never assume they are identical. Measure each one individually, as even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measuring:

  • Measure the total area you want the blind to cover. For best results, let the blind extend at least 70mm above the window recess and 50mm on each side.
  • The length at the bottom is up to you, but remember to consider any radiators or other obstructions.
  • Use a rigid metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch and cause errors.

Inside Recess Measuring:

  • Take the full height and width of the recess where the blind will fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and drop, and record the smallest sizes.
  • Do not make your own deductions – this will be adjusted during production for a perfect fit.
  • Always use a metal tape measure to avoid inaccuracies.

Your vertical blind should come with the following parts:

  • 2 top-fix brackets
  • 2 face-fix brackets
  • Hangers
  • Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • Safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • Weights
  • Screws
  • Pencil
  • Metal tape measure
  • Drill with correct drill bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver

Face Fixing:

  • Place the brackets around 5cm from each end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are provided, space them evenly along the length.
  • Ensure your fixings are appropriate for the type of wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it forward into place, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front.

Top Fixing:

  • Mark the positions carefully, allowing space for window handles or any parts that protrude into the recess.
  • Position the brackets roughly 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid interference with handles. Fit any extra brackets evenly across the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings suit the surface you are attaching to.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket and rotate it until it clicks into position. To remove the headrail, press the bracket release point.
