Outside Recess
Measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To prevent light leakage, allow at least 70mm overlap at the top and 50mm on each side. The bottom overlap is optional, but consider obstacles such as radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch or bend and give inaccurate readings.
Inside Recess
For blinds fitted inside the window recess, measure the total width and height of the opening. Take three measurements for both width and drop and use the smallest figures. Do not make your own reductions, as these will be made for you to ensure a perfect fit. Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.
Make sure the following items are included with your blind:
Face Fix
Place the brackets around 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra ones evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface. Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and tighten the small front screw to secure it.
Top Fix
Measure and mark carefully to leave space for window handles or other protrusions. Position the brackets approximately 10cm from each end of the headrail area. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the remaining brackets evenly across the length. Check that the fixings are appropriate for the wall or surface. Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, rotate it until it clicks, and to remove, press the bracket to release the rail.
